This year, my dog turned 13 years old. I don’t know when he may decide to cross the Rainbow Bridge. This year has been difficult for Romeo who has undergone multiple surgeries and debilitating mobility. I keep turning my head and looking at him with some sorrow in my heart and question if he’ll be beside me while I update this blog next Christmas. Like many proud mamas, I still love pampering my 4-legged boy with fun gifts and treats. (Pause – I needed to give our retriever a big hug and kisses). See, this is how dog owners behave, and we can’t help it. We love our pooches for well-founded reasons, really! Their round gentle eyes are innocent, their mouths are always smiling, and their fur is cuddly and soft. There are moments when we even question this infatuation. Are we giving them more love and attention than our children and grandkids? Well, sometimes we do. But they’re worth every drop of tenderness for the love they give is abundant and unconditional.
