Christmas morning is one of the biggest family slumber parties of the year. We are either hosting Christmas Eve or attending it at someone’s place and most of the time, people end up sleeping over. Whether it’s hosting or staying overnight at someone’s place, I want to look good Christmas morning in cute sleepwear pieces.
It’s not because I’m superficial, but rather I want to feel energetic and welcoming. As well, I want to look presentable in everyone’s eyes. As a woman, I don’t want my sleepwear to look revealing, sloppy, or out of shape while sipping the morning coffee with my guests or host. Plus, you know everyone will be taking photos left, right and centre on Christmas morning with kids opening presents and group photos. So, do you now understand why mastering the art of looking good on Christmas morning is important? (wink).
How to pick your sleepwear pieces?
I’m one of those people who neglected to update my sleepwear when I became a mother. After I had my child, I bought a few nursing sets and wore them for years until my husband dropped a hint. At that moment, I realized it was time to freshen up the drawer with new sleepwear pieces that are comfortable and fit well. Besides, I am of an age where night flashes happen frequently, so it’s important to wear breathable clothing to sleep better. Here are some tips on how to pick the best sleepwear for the Holidays, vacations, or at home.
The right fabric
The most important thing to look for when buying sleepwear is fabric. I love thick and cozy-looking PJs, but not during a hot flash episode. Therefore, I opt for lighter and natural fabrics that are breathable like cotton, silk, satin, and bamboo. My personal favorites are this satin set with long pants and long sleeves and that is because silk is a natural thermoregulator which means, it keeps us warm when it’s cold and cool when it’s warm. Plus, you’ll look spectacular on Christmas morning.
The right fit
Let’s just be transparent here and agree that skimpy sexy sleepwear isn’t really the most comfortable and guest-friendly. I don’t know how to sleep in them. They slip out of place during the night and press on my skin. I end up waking up frequently just to adjust the placement so that the boobs aren’t hanging out, or worse, fixing the wedgies! So a 2-piece set is way more comfortable and elegant to wear as long as you chose your correct size.
The nice pattern
Let’s talk about sleepwear patterns for a moment. Please pick feminine and mature patterns instead of cute teddy bear prints. As much as we love teddies and puppies or kitties, these patterns aren’t as flattering on women over 40. Let’s all agree to reserve these prints for our daughters and granddaughters. Take a look at this selection of sleepwear designs and patterns that are guaranteed to make you feel and look amazing day and night.
